Diversity and inclusion

We aim to build a diverse and inclusive organisation where everyone – staff and students – can do their best work and achieve their full potential.

Our community

As a school, we live by our vision, and that means ensuring that everyone in our community is accepted, included and empowered. We have a diverse staff and student body of which we are incredibly proud.

Our pupils know and understand the importance of showing respect to everyone, whatever differences we may have, and to everything, whether it is a school resource or a religious belief. We promote and celebrate diversity by celebrating events such as Black History Month, Pride, and different religious festivals over the course of each year.

Accessibility

Ark Bulington Danes is committed to providing a fully accessible environment, which values and includes all pupils, staff, parents and visitors regardless of their education, physical, sensory, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural needs. We are committed to challenging negative attitudes about disability and accessibility, and to developing a culture of awareness, tolerance and inclusion.

You can read about how our school curriculum caters to SEND learners here.

Curriculum

Our staff Diversity Group has led a whole-school review of our curriculum to ensure we can identify all possible opportunities to celebrate and explore diversity in the academic curriculum. This has been led by our History department, where students now learn a wide-ranging curriculum covering history from all over the world.

Our staff and recruitment

We want to reflect and represent diverse perspectives across our organisation because we know that doing so will make us stronger, more connected and enhance our pupils' education.

Ark is an equal opportunity employer. Applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
