Parent Working Group
Our Parent Working Group aims to strengthen relationships between the Academy and home and help us gain feedback on how the Academy can continue to get even better. By doing so we can realise our Academy vision of 'we will be the ones to make the world a better place.'
Our first meeting took place on Wednesday 14th September. Here we discussed issues around the Academy communication with parents including updates on student progress after assessments.
Our second meeting took place on Wednesday 5th October. We reviewed the actions from the previous meeting, with good progress being made around communication of achievement. Please watch out for communication around revision materials for assessments next term.
Our third meeting took place on Wednesday 9th November. Here we discussed the changes to the phone line and set up a mechanism to provide feedback on these changes.
In our December meeting on Wednesday December 7th we discussed the Community Kitchen Event which took place on Wednesday 14th December.
In our last meeting on Monday 27th February, we held a parent webinar with Bold Voices to outline their work and to give strategies on how you as parents can support our young people at home.
Our next meeting with take place on Wednesday 22nd March at 5pm where we will disucss the following:
- Assessment data sheets - We will discuss the data sheets sent out in December and what further improvements you would like for these.
- Rewards and Sanctions - We will discuss what good rewards and sanctions look like at home when students are rewarded or sanctioned at school.
Please arrive at the Primary reception by 4.55pm.
We are looking forward to building a strong relationship with the Academy and home. This group will be a key driver in ensuring that this happens, so we are looking for parents to join the group to provide the feedback needed to support the Academy becoming even better. If you know another parent that would be great for the group, then why not show them this page.
The BDA Way
Pupils, parents, teachers all sign a Home-School agreement. This is a joint promise that all of us will put in the time and effort required for our children to succeed. Parents are expected to support children by supervising home learning, ensuring that children attend school and wear the correct uniform.
Parent voice
Parents and carers are an integral part of our school community, and your feedback forms an essential part of our ongoing development and improvement. We regularly run surveys and sessions to gather your views on the education your child is receiving, and to understand where we can do better.
You can share your feedback via these channels:
- Ofsted's Parent View tool. This survey consists of 12 short questions around topics such as teaching and behaviour, and will feed into our ongoing development plan
- Directly with a member of our staff
- The main school office
