Introduction to Sociological Perspectives.

Families - perspectives on families, changing patterns of marriage, divorce and conjugal roles and changing patterns of childhood.

Spring
Education - perspectives on the role of education, differences in achievement including ethnicity, social class and gender differences and educational policies.
Summer
Crime and Deviance - introduction including perspectives on crime.

Autumn
Crime and deviance - strain theory, subcultural and marxist explanations of crime.
Spring
Social Stratification - perspectives on stratification, life chances, poverty and power. Revision and exam practice of all topics.
Summer
Revision and exam practice of all topics.

Autumn

Introduction to perspectives in Sociology. Families - changing patterns including divorce, marriage cohabitation, changes in gender roles, demography.

Education - perspectives on roles of education, differences in achievement including social class, gender and ethnicity, education and gender and sexual identities and educational policies.

Spring

Education in context - research methods and their effectiveness when used in education including observations, experiments, interviews, official statistics and questionnaires.

Crime and deviance - perspectives and explanations for crime, patterns of crime including in relation to social class, ethnicity and gender.

Summer
Crime - the role of the criminal justice system, crime control and punishment. The media and globalisation in relation to crime. Revision of Education, Families, Methods in Context.
