Celebrating Achievements: Ark Burlington Danes Students' Stellar GCSE Results

Ark Burlington Danes Academy students have set a high standard with their strong performance in this year’s GCSE results.

Seventy-four percentage of the school’s students achieved grades 9-4 in English and maths this year, compared to 65% last year. Students also achieved four percentage points higher at 9-7 and 9-5 in English and maths compared to last year.

Individual successes included:

Thank you to my teachers and my family who guided me through the last year. Without them I would not be here.”

I am excited to study biology, chemistry and psychology at Ark Burlington Danes Academy next year.”

They were the reason I was able to achieve so highly today.”

Samir Simnica – English Literature (9), English Language (9), Mathematics (7), Biology (8), Chemistry (8), Physics (7), Business Studies (7), History (9), Religious Education (9) and French (7) said ‘Grades are such a personal journey. I am thankful for everyone who supported me.’

Wajma Yousofi – English Literature (7), English Language (9), Mathematics (8), Biology (7), Chemistry (7), Physics (7), Economics (6), Geography (8), Religious Education (9), French (7) said, “Teachers went above and beyond to support me throughout my GCSE year, thank you Ark Burlington Danes Academy!”

Principal David Carr said, “We are really proud of what our students have achieved this summer. Students and staff worked tirelessly together so that all students could maxmise their outcomes. Students modelled our values of Aim High, Be Brave, Be Kind and Keep Learning and we look forward to our students continuing their journey with us in sixth form. We are excited to see them become the leaders of the future that ‘make our world a better place.’”

The school’s excellent results follow a hear of highlights.

The school’s music department was awarded a generous grant of £20,000 by Restore The Music. The funding will be used to purchase new instruments and equipment to support the music programme.

Other successes this year include the school's after-school social dining initiative, in partnership with CanTeam. The initiative brought together over 400 young people, family members, teachers, and guests for a meal and fun activities. The school's catering team and student volunteers have partnered with CanTeam to host these events, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Physics teacher, Mark Robinson, received a generous grant of £25,000 from Let Teachers SHINE to develop his AI project, Instant Feedback for Every Child. Mark aims to revolutionise physics teaching with this project, providing thousands of students with instant expert feedback that is often only available through private tutoring. This project holds great promise for the future of education.

David Carr added, "Throughout this school year, our students and staff have achieved remarkable academic and personal growth. As we create a nurturing learning environment, we will continue to seize every opportunity for success and excellence."

Ark Burlington Danes will be hosting open days on the following dates:

  • Open Evening – Thursday 3 rd October from 5pm.  
  • Open Mornings – Thursday 3rd  October and Friday 4th October from 9am until 10.30am.  
  • Open Mornings – Thursday 10t October and Friday 11th October from 9am until 10.30am.
