On Sunday 21st May Burlington Danes Y9 Football Team made the short journey to their league finals held at Loftus Road. The team talk was short, with Mr French wanting the boys to enjoy the game and work hard with and without the ball. As the nerves decreased, the quality possession football came out from Burlington Danes. A through ball 10 minutes in was controlled and calmly slotted past the goal keeper by Archie Livingstone. Quick to counter, West London Free School tried to get their academy player on the ball. Quality defensive work from the triangle in midfield stopped then number 10 in his tracks. After a super delivery from out wide, Archie again rose above the defender to glance a header into the back of the net. Following this another quick through ball between the full back and centre half allowed our number 9 to smash the ball past a diving keeper.

We came out in the second half not content with the 3 goal cushion. Anton Morgan was having the game of his footballing career and continued to impress when he picked the ball up just inside of the opponents half, sold one defender with a ‘drop of the shoulder’ before skipping between the two centre backs and rifling the ball over the keeper and into the top corner. From this point, we dominated possessions with their attacks being quickly cut out by Ameer and Corey. Just before the final whistle went, Shaieb Ibrahim caught the back four sleeping and made a delayed run towards the back post, Kyle Channer picked him out and shieb slotted us home to make the final score 5-0.
