Year 9 students who are taking part in the Schools Challenge, run by Imperial College and JP Morgan, had their first trip to the Wood Lane 'Invention Rooms' workshop to get started on their project.
They were amazed by the range of equipment available, and particularly enjoyed using the laser cutters and 3D printers.
Whilst their final project remains a tightly guarded secret, they have shared that they've already made a prototype of a car and their big idea is linked to traffic lights. We know that the aim is to create something of real world use to improve people's lives in London and beyond, and are hugely excited to see what they come up with.
The students taking part are already showing great commitment and leadership, two of BDA's Christian Values, and we're sure they'll continue to develop in and demonstrate all seven of our core values.
At Ark Burlington Danes we also run a weekly coding club for students interested in developing their skills in this area. For more details please see the Enrichment booklet.
