Literacy Squad at ARK Brunel

Monday 10 March 2014

BDA’s busy Literacy Squad joined students at the lovely ARK Brunel Primary Academy last week to help out with various World Book Day activities.

Having ventured into the playground at lunchtime, catching a glimpse of some amazing literature-themed costumes, the group were split up and assigned to separate classes, ranging from nursery right through to year six.

They assisted pupils with cover designing, blurb writing, group reading and poster making, relishing the opportunity to share a little of their passion for literature.

Alice Simpson, who was with year five, said: “What I enjoyed most was just sitting and talking with the students, they were really nice.”

Mr Cooke said: “We were made to feel extremely welcome and the work that the students did was greatly appreciated. It was a very enriching and enjoyable afternoon for all concerned.”

Well done to: Reece Healy-Elliman, Alice Simpson, Hamdi Abdulkadir, Jai Patel, Abdullahi Dahir, Aishni Mittra, Muna Haji, Juliana Vilela and Daniel Blackburn; all of whom were fantastic ambassadors for Burlington Danes Academy.
