KS3 Girls Football Finals
BDA’s key stage 3 girls football team took on Chelsea Academy in the QPR Schools Football League Finals last weekend, looking to finish their exceptional season on a high.
Having already beaten their opponents in a league encounter earlier in the year, the girls were optimistic; however, thanks to heavy traffic on the way to the ground, they had limited preparation time before the match got underway.
Despite the rushed start, BDA dominated from start to finish with much of the territory and possession. The girls did everything asked of them but could not find the net, with fortune going the other way.
Just before half time, the Chelsea keeper hoofed a long ball towards the BDA goal-mouth, where confusion at the back saw the opposing striker slot home the game’s decisive goal.
Coaches Mr Clingham and Mr Prince were very proud of their team, who, despite obvious disappointment at the final whistle, had the integrity to applaud Chelsea and accept defeat gracefully.
“The girls honestly gave it their all,” said Mr Clingham. “Their behaviour was outstanding as always and it was a pleasure to give up our Saturday.”
Congratulations to Hannah, who received the player of the match award for her tireless hard work, and Hayley, Eman and Amanda, who also had very good games.
