Academic Awards Night
On Thursday 14th November, staff and students came together to celebrate our academic successes at our annual Academic Awards Evening.
The event was the talk of the school, with staff wearing academic gowns throughout the school day to promote the importance of university study. Lots of students and staff engaged in conversations about where and what they had studied.
The evening itself was shared with award winners and their families, and it was a great honour for all involved to be part of this celebration of hard work, effort and talent. We were especially pleased to welcome back some of our recent alumni, who returned from university to pick up awards for last year's results. It was a great occasion for them to catch up with their teachers and share their gratitude for the support over their time at BDA. Alongside certificates, our award winners all received two Zadie Smith books which we're sure they will treasure.
We were treated to two musical interludes on the violin and guitar, a video showcasing the previous academic year and an inspirational speech from our guest speaker Christopher Herbert, who shared his top tips for success in business.
The evening came to a close with BDA's highest accolades: our Scholar awards. These are awarded to the students in each year group who have performed the best across the whole curriculum, and are much coveted. The winners are now wearing their badges with pride!
Thank you to all staff who attended and who were involved in the organisation, and especially to the students for their hard work across the year.
