Ark Burlington Danes Academy is now consulting on its admissions policy for September 2023 onwards. The consultation will run for six weeks, from Monday 1 November to Sunday 12 December 2021.
The draft policy is available here.
Proposed changes are highlighted in yellow. Hard copies are also available on request at the contact details below.
Two changes are proposed in the new admissions arrangements;
- Removing the standard point of entry and published admission number (PAN) for Reception. From September 2023, Ark Burlington Danes Academy will be a Church of England Secondary school with a sixth form.
- Introducing an additional oversubscription criterion naming three local Ark primary schools as feeder schools. This new criterion has a lower priority for places after siblings, meaning that siblings of current pupils will continue to get higher priority for places.
These proposed changes are part of a wider consultation consolidate primary provision on the EdCity site – in response to a growing oversupply of primary places in Hammersmith and Fulham. The borough currently has an oversupply at Reception level of nearly 20%: 8% higher than the London average.
Agreed regeneration and housing schemes have been driving more optimistic pupil number forecasts which supported school expansion – but many of these are still at feasibility stage. This, combined with a falling birth rate, reduced migration into the city, and now, the impact of the pandemic, have resulted in an unsustainable surplus.
Further information on this consultation is available here.
Comments on the policy and proposed changes should be submitted either by email or by post to:
Post: Ark Projects Team, The Yellow Building, 1, Nicholas Road, London W114AN
Correspondence should be headed 'Ark Burlington Danes Admissions Consultation 2023'.
Consultation closes on Sunday 12 December 2021, all comments should be received by this date.
Removing the Reception PAN is part of a wider project to make the school secondary-only (removing the Primary phase) – and consolidate primary provision on the EdCity site. Further information on this consultation is available here. Confirmation of this will be dependent on approval from the Department for Education.
Once public consultation on the feeder school criterion has closed, Ark Schools (the admissions authority for Ark Burlington Danes Academy) will consider all feedback and the final admissions arrangements will be determined by the Ark Schools Management Board before Monday 28 February 2022 and published on the academy’s website.
