Reception September 2017

Please note: Admissions to our Reception is coordinated by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. 

We hope this page provides parents of children who are currently in the process of applying for a place in our Reception class or have already been offered a place either in our Reception / on our waiting list for September 2017 the most up to date information regarding the admissions process to our school.

Below you will find information about upcoming events and an indication of what you should expect, by way of communication, from the school between now and September. You will also find documents relating to any events that have taken place so far, along with forms and other resources you may find useful.

Important Dates

15 January 2017 Closing date for applictaions to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham
  • If your child is born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 you will need to apply for a primary school place, in Reception, for September 2017

18 April 2017 National offer day
  • You will receive a formal offer of a place in Reception from the council, based on your application.
  • You will then have a short period in which to respond to this offer in order to formally accept the place you wish to take up.
30 April 2017 Deadline for accepting offers  
June       Welcome letter from Burlington Danes Primary Academy This will include:           
  • A welcome and introduction to our school
  • A list of upcoming events 
  • An invitation to our open days
  • A copy of The Griffin school magazine
30 June 2017 Open Day 1
  • A chance to visit the school, meet key members of staff, get answers to any questions you may have and meet the other parents who will be in your child's class, informally.
  • A presentation in which we will discuss the Early Years curriculum, our approach to teaching and learning and how we can work in partnership to help your child reach their potential.
4 July 3:00-4:00pm Parent Picnic
  • Find out more information about our school, meet your child's class teacher and the other families joining us in September.
26 July 4:00-7:00pm Uniform Sale - School Hall
  • Our school uniform provider, Khalsa Schoolwear, will be in school to enable you to pre-order school uniform for September.
6-8 September Home Visits
  • An appointent will be made for the class teacher to visit you and your child at home.
  • The purpose of the visit is to find out more about your child's abilities, interests and personality to make their transition to school as easy as possible. 
11-12 September First days of Reception
  • School begins.
  • These first two days will be shorter, finishing after lunch at 1:00pm. This will help to ease the transition to a new school / routine.
  • School gates open at 8:15am and the school day begins at 8:30am.
13 September Full time attendance
  • Children will attend school full time.
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am-4:00pm
  • Friday 8:30am-2:30pm
