Secondary School Entrance Changes
From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.
All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.
The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.
Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) at Burlington Danes Academy is taught as part of the PSHCE programme through a series of lessons from Years 7 to 11. These lessons work alongside other aspects of sex related education that are addressed in Science and Religious Education.
The objective of SRE at Burlington Danes is to help and support young people through their physical, emotional and moral development. The full programme, embedded in PSHCE, helps all students learn to respect themselves and others and move with confidence from childhood through adolescence into adulthood.
At Burlington Danes, SRE contributes to promoting the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of all students at the academy and of society and aims to prepare young people for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. The SRE programme respects that Burlington Danes in a Church of England School, and is sensitive to those children within the school community who are of other faiths.
Our PSHCE schedule is based on the guidance from the ‘PSHE Education Programme of Study.’ PSHE Association 2017
