On Wednesday 9th, we had ex pupil turned professional boxer Dan Dan " the school boy" Keenan come in for an exhibition match against Cassidy White.
Cassidy learned how to box at Burlington Danes with SweetScience under the supervision of coach Leroy Nicholas. He was suitably nervous performing for the first time ever and in front of the great turn out of students.
After a hesitant first round, Cassidy performed to his ability pushing Dan Dan back with some great Jabs. The third round was even which made principal, Mr Ribton adjudge the bout a well deserved draw.
BDA made history today with its first ever competitive bout. However, given the impressive turnout and interest, it will not be the last!
We spoke to Dan Dan about his thoughts on the level of performance displayed by our students at the academy, and he responded that he was very surprised by the high standard of technique and power on show from some of the BDA students he took on the pads.
We will be watching Dan Dan’s career with great interest and he has promised to come in to show off his world title belt when he wins it!
