Secondary School Entrance Changes
From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.
All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.
The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.
First Story Workshop at UCL
First Story Team: Friday 13th ... unlucky for some but not for the intrepid First Story group, who, just weeks away from the publication of the BDA 2014 anthology Concrete, spent the day at UCL producing some amazing pieces of creative writing.
One Day in the City is a festival of creativity and the students witnessed some fantastic poetry performances from award winning poet Anthony Anaxagorou (who has supported MOBO winner Akala on his UK tour!). We then went to the 'rock room' where we held a 4.5 billion year old piece of meteorite, a 1.6 million year old crab and hand axes which are the first evidence of humans from 160,000 years ago. Inspired by the tales behind these fascinating objects, the group sat down to write; poems, stories, diaries and even text conversations.
The end results were fantastic to read and we were really proud of our students who conducted themselves with great maturity and enthusiasm. We were very proud of the following students who were chosen to share their work in front of an audience of over 100 students and professional writers: Dylan Arango, Sharaiz Irfan, Christian Acheampong, Aishni Mittra and Julienna.
The launch of the First Story anthology and the A level art exhibition will be held after school on Wednesday July 16th – all welcome!
