Secondary School Entrance Changes

From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.

All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.

The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.

US Ambassador and BDA students talk politics

The United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr Matthew Barzun visited Year 10 and Sixth Form students on Wednesday morning to discuss America’s role in the arena of global politics.

It was an interactive session as he brought with him a number of ‘clickers’ that could register the audience’s response to various multiple choice questions.

Ark BDA did not hold back, accusing America of frequently intervening in foreign situations solely to protect America’s own interests! Dialogue was robust but hugely informative: it appears that most student regard the USA as a land of opportunity and wealth.

The session served as a reminder that  the internet and mass media are filled with hoaxes, hysteria and falsehoods. Indeed, the importance of understanding the difference between opinion and fact was the biggest takeaway of the morning.
