Secondary School Entrance Changes
From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.
All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.
The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.
Staff, students and friends of Burlington Danes Academy flooded the Dennis Potter theatre on Monday evening for a celebration of the success and high-achievement of our pupils.
After a reception of drinks and canapés, guests made their way into the theatre for a warm welcome from Dame Sally, ahead the first academic presentations.
Following prizes from the art and design, business studies, and English and media faculties, Chair of Governors Lord Stanley Fink took to the stage to address to the audience. Presentations for humanities, languages and maths followed.
BDA’s strings group then performed a fantastic rendition of The Beatles’ classic All You Need is Love, before the awards for physical education, performing arts, religious education and science were presented. Former BDA student Abdul-Quddus Akinwale (class of 2012) spoke to the theatre about preparing for life at university.
The evening concluded with additional presentations in recognition of academic scholarship and excellent teaching. Thanks to all who attended for your continued support and well done to all who received awards. Keep it up.
