Secondary School Entrance Changes

From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.

All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.

The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.

Much Ado Sets Alight

BDA’s drama department has become synonymous with top-notch, expertly delivered shows that span a variety of styles. It’s no surprise then that this week’s performance of Much Ado About Nothing at the Shaw Theatre was a blazing success enjoyed by all who attended.

As part of the excellent Shakespeare Schools Festival, the largest youth drama festival in the UK, the Burlington Danes cast and crew set the stage alight with their hilarious adaptation of one of our great bard’s most popular plays - thought to be written at the turn of the 17th century.

Congratulations to everybody involved on what was a superbly acted, brilliantly danced and perfectly put together production showcasing the impressive depth of talent that we have at BDA. The live music was a fantastic addition.

Special mention must be made of Jadon Guthrie and Alice Simpson, whose palpable stage chemistry and comic timing left nothing to be desired, while Fred and Ezra Gill’s soulful turns as Leonato and Claudio were exceptional.

The Shakespeare Schools Festival’s chief of staff said: "I have never had so much fun in an SSF performance; you have performed way beyond your years. Congratulations."

Thanks to every member of the cast and crew for an excellent performance that will live long in the memory. We are very proud indeed.
