Secondary School Entrance Changes
From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.
All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.
The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.
BDA's Famous Cultural Gala
Our celebration of Black History Month came to an end with the much-anticipated Cultural Gala on Wednesday. The night was a spectacular display of music, dance and delicious cuisines from around the world.
Throughout the month of October, both students and teachers have been promoting Black History Month, paying particular homage to inspirational author, poet, singer, dancer and actress Maya Angelou.
There have been enactments from the performing arts department, quizzes, cook-offs showcasing multicultural dishes and inspirational assemblies on black history – all in preparation for this grand finale.
Our hosts for the evening – Cassie, Faiza, Ayan and Hajar – welcomed the eagerly awaiting audience with a riveting performance by our music department, accompanied by renowned Sabar drummer Mohamed Gueye. This was followed by several more acts, including poetry, video montages, singing from the BDA Choir, steel pans and drama performances, and lots more music.
The night concluded with a vibrant exhibition of cultural wear put together and modelled by our students from the textiles department. It was an additional treat to see members of staff also parade down the catwalk, much to the delight of the audience.
A special mention must be given to Ms Wilson, Ms Choudhary, Ms Cabdi and Ms Clancy for their collaboration in organising the event.
Last but not least, we say a big thank you to all parents and students that contributed food and assistance to help make this yet another successful event at BDA.
