Secondary School Entrance Changes

From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.

All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.

The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.

First Story's Huff and Puff

Huff and Puff has finally arrived. The First Story team’s latest publication has been met with a shower of praise, almost selling out during its first night on the shelves.

Billed as a collection of ‘Untraditional Fairy Stories and Other Tall Tales’, the anthology makes for a very entertaining read and will be fully reviewed in Academy News in the coming weeks.

Huff and Puff’s launch was combined with this year’s Summer Art Exhibition, which provided a perfect backdrop for the occasion. As parents and teachers immersed themselves in the artistic and literary atmosphere, our young writers read extracts from their work, took questions from the floor and signed copies of the book.

It was great to see author – and our writer in residence – John O’farrell in the crowd, along with First Story’s co-founder Will Feigns.

With just four copies remaining by the end of the night, it is fair to say that the book went down a storm. Even more impressively, it has been chosen from almost 100 other First Story school anthologies to have 200 further copies printed as a publicity book by the charity to be handed out to sponsors and potential donors.

According to First Story, Huff and Puff was this year’s stand out piece of work – what an achievement.
