Secondary School Entrance Changes

From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.

All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.

The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.

SURVIVORS AGAINST TERRORISM CAMPAIGN

Last Friday we had Brendan Cox (husband of Jo Cox, Labour MP who was murdered by neo-Nazi Thomas Mair), Jo Berry (daughter to Sir Anthony Berry who was killed by the IRA Brighton hotel bombing) and Charlotte Dixon-Sutcliffe (wife of David Dixon who was killed in the Brussels metro bombing) come in to BDA to launch their charity ‘Survivors Against Terror’ (http://www.survivorsagainstterror.org.uk/) This campaign seeks to support those who have suffered trauma at the hands of terrorism and to also lobby government for policy change.

We had a unique morning where personal stories of murders inspired by neo-Nazi, IRA and Daesh ideologies sobered Yr12 students into great contemplation. They were a respectful and poised audience. Afterwards, the EPQ class were filmed by SKY and ITV asking challenging and thought-provoking questions to the panel. They were a real credit to the academy.
