Secondary School Entrance Changes

From Monday 14th January our entrance on Wood Lane will be open to students only until 8:55am. Students will also leave via this entrance as usual at the end of the school day. Any students arriving after 8.55am will have to enter via the Du Cane Road entrance and register at the all-through reception, which is located in the Primary. They will then be escorted to their lessons.

All visitors, parents and guests will arrive and leave via the Du Cane Raod entrance, at all times and also check in to the all-through reception.

The all-through reception is reached by following the pavement around to the left and entering the primary building.

Commonwealth Champion Visits BDA

A group of lucky year 8s were treated to a visit from professional boxer Hannah Beharry this week. The former GB and Commonwealth Champion visited BDA as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport Incentive.

Hannah told the exciting story of how she was introduced to the sport, detailing the barriers she faced as the first female British boxing champion. She then went on to lead practical boxing sessions with each PE class. She praised Mr French's group, saying that there was “some natural talent within the group”. This was a huge compliment coming from a professional and gold medal champion.

Where next? Mr French will be targeting a specific group of pupils who will benefit from sessions designed to increase their self-confidence and leadership skills around the academy. We are looking forward to a second visit from Hannah later in the year.
