Mr Ribton: A great Half Term
Mr Ribton: It’s been an amazing half term at BDA. After the positive start created by such excellent results and recruiting our biggest ever sixth form, currently “147 strong”, the half term has seen our largest ever Open Evening and Open Mornings, our Primary Open Events and very positive recruitment for next year’s Year 12.
The House Bake Off, University Challenge and chess competition, the stunning Black History Month gala displays created by our tutor groups on the life of Maya Angelou and the Cultural Gala itself were for me BDA at its best and most vibrant.
The half term is a time for rest and to be spent with our families and friends; undoubtedly there will be a lot of work to do and our thoughts are with our Year 13 students as the slow trickle of offers for university places will begin in earnest. We wish them all the best.
Next half term will see assessments as well as lots more fun activities (Mr Preston is busy organising this year’s staff pantomime), the Shakespeare Schools Festival, the Academic Awards evening and towards the end of term we think about those who are less fortunate by collecting for Christmas hampers and hold a Tea Dance for the elderly in our community.
It’s good to be busy but also the half term holiday is a time to reflect on how we are doing and how we can do things better and more effectively.
So I’m hoping you come back renewed, refreshed and ready for learning on Tuesday 4th November and we look forward to seeing you then.
